Infinity Blade III

Reaches the end of a trilogy that has marked time in touch panorama; Epic Games and ChAIR Entertainment have Infinity Blade III, the third installment of a saga that takes the latest devices of Apple hardware special ‒en the new iPhone 5S‒ the most, with an overwhelming audiovisual section and maintaining much of its gameplay. It will be enough to convince the fans? The answer in our analysis.

Infinity Blade has been and still is a saga of reference in iOS thanks to two key aspects: its overwhelming mise en scène and gameplay designed especially for the always controversial touch interface of our iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Taking advantage of much of the technical potential of the Unreal Engine 3 from Epic Games, ChAIR Entertainment completed a trilogy very special for smartphones and tablets, taking care to maximize both its setting as artistic design and taking the game touch to another level, while for many, its mechanics do not pass bland and repetitive. But Infinity Blade is much more; now, with the third installment already available in the AppStore, we have to check our analysis if Infinity Blade III responds to such high expectations or, conversely, does not offer much more to an already very exploited formula of game in touch platforms.

The origins

We must go back to September 2010 to learn more about such legendary saga; at the time, Epic Games surprised the whole world with a technical demo known as Epic Citadel for iOS devices, a small application that allowed us to see the excellence of the graphics engine Unreal Engine 3 adapted to smartphones and tablets. A few months, in December, appeared in the AppStore a surprising title, powered by an overwhelming graphics. Thus was born Infinity Blade, a new exclusive saga of iOS that the Mise en scène revolutionized the portable game, bringing it to the quality standards of much more powerful machines and presenting a gestural gameplay, simple but effective, imitated later by a great number of titles as Avengers Initiative, Horn or the latest man of steel, that Yes, with quite different results.
